And here are my thoughts:

What I don’t like:

- transmission is awful and just buzzes around

- brake pedal has to be on the damn floor or it pulls forward hard

- lots of road noise

- no trunk release button on fob

- accelerating to merge with traffic is terrifying

- something in the driver’s B-pillar is rattling and it’s incredibly distracting

What I do like:

- air conditioning is EXCELLENT!

- good visibility

- .... A/C GOOD!

Hey its not that bad, they are actually have some oomph compared to other non-sport models in it’s class. I drove these almost daily at work at a dealership

It can’t possibly be worse than the ‘16 Sentra I rented about a month ago. Well, it had comfy seats at least. That’s the one and only positive thing I could take away from the experience.

I had a Kia Forte a couple of weeks ago, it’s the elantra’s cousin. I think just going one size up would make a huge difference.

I will say this, compared to a new entry level car from 15 years ago it’s virtually a luxury car. It had power everything, cruise, aux/usb ports, height adjustment on driver’s seat, satellite radio, and on and on. I would be totally ok with driving one on a 1500 mile road trip.

Oh dear God. Enterprise picked us up to take us to the dealership in the nearly new Renegade. It’s small interior, bolt upright seating, tacky interior, harsh ride and generally an awful place to be and it was only for 6-8miles.

I think this is due to be replaced soon; I have the one from the previous generation, and it’s some car, but worse than this. The engine in the pre-2012 models is around 110hp, rear drum brakes, and a four-speed auto with overdrive. The current gen is a step up with around 130hp, discs all around, and I believe they use six-speed autos now.

All I can say about mine is that it’s cheap to run and has been very reliable. I know I’ve read this somewhere before: it doesn’t let you down, but it doesn’t lift you up, either.

Pickup accelerates well for what it is. The Accent feels like it’s telling you “no” between zero and 30 miles per hour.
